View from inside the Colosseum The Colosseum is an ellipse whose axes are 610 feet by 515 feet. Seating was provided for about 50,000 spectators. The wooden floor of the Colosseum has long since disappeared. What you can see now are the underground rooms and corridors beneath the arena itself. These corridors and rooms housed the services necessary for the games: lifts, animal cages, stage apparatus and so on.
