Brilliance of the Seas

Brilliance of the Seas This is Brilliance of the Seas. We had cabin number 8506 which was located towards the front of the ship on Deck 8.

The ship is operated by Royal Caribbean. It is 90,090 tons in weight and carries 2100 passengers together with 859 crew members.

It has lots of facilities, including a number of restaurants, a theatre, a cinema, a climbing wall, fitness centre, solarium, swimming pools, waterslide, basketball court, minature golf course, health spa and casino. It also has a lot of bars and two discos.

The main dining room was the two-tiered "Minstrels". Evening meals here had fixed seating with most tables having six, ten or twelve place settings.
Although Minstrels would have been available, we used one of the other restaurants "Windjammer" for our breakfast. The selection was great: there was the usual "English Breakfast" of bacon, egg (fried, boiled or scrambled), tomatoes, baked beans and sausage together with meats and rolls (as in a typical German breakfast), croissants, muffins, toast, cakes, waffles, jam, marmelade, fruit (of every concievable variety) and a wide selection of hot and cold drinks.

The seven-deck high atrium served as the central feature of the ship and acted as the connection to all the activities in the ship's centre. In the evenings there was always music in the Lobby Bar which drifted into the common areas. The Schooner Bar was accessed from the centrum and had a resident pianist. The Schooner Bar lead to the Colony Club which was equipped with two self-levelling pool tables and sets for playing chess, backgammon and draughts.
