View of Rothenburg from the wall

This is Rothenburg ob der Tauber which is a very picturesque town in Northern Bavaria. The town escaped from major destruction in the Second World War because the future High Commissioner to Germany knew and liked the town and persuaded his fellow Americans not to bomb it!
